250 To Participate In National Quranic Recitation Competition In Katsina

No fewer than 250 competitors are expected to participate in the 32nd National Quranic Recitation Competition scheduled to hold in Katsina between Feb. 23 and March 3.

The Chairman, Local Organizing Committee, Justice Musa Danladi, disclosed this during at a news conference on Wednesday in Katsina.

He said that the 250 participants were from the 32 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The chairman said that the participants comprising 125 males and 125 females, were expected to arrive the state capital on Thursday, Feb 22,

He explained that the competitors would compete in six categories for males and females pointing out that six judges would conduct the competition.

He said that the state government had already released the sum of N119 million for the competition.

According to him, the funds would be used for feeding, accommodation, prizes and the general welfare of the participants during the period of the competition.

He added that the state government had pledged to provide more funds if the need arises to ensure the success of the competition.

He further said that the state government had also constituted various sub-committees to ensure smooth running of the event.

Danladi said that adequate security measures had been taken to ensure security of participants and spectators at the events.

He disclosed that the Chairman, Nigerian Governors Forum and Governor of Zamfara, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari is expected to declare the competition open.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari would be the Special Guest of Honor during the closing ceremony.
