The Vice-Chancellor, Lagos State University, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, has said that graduates of the institution can measure up to their counterparts around the world.
He also said that graduates would be given their certificates hours after the convocation ceremony, expressing hope that all 27 programmes presented to the National Universities Commission would be accredited.
Fagbohun said this during a briefing to announce the 21st convocation ceremony of the university in Lagos.
He said that 36, 489 students would graduate with Diploma as well as first and higher degrees during the convocation week which began on Friday. He added that 26 students would graduate in the first class category.
“Our students are always able to prove their mettle anywhere in the world. We simply use our marking system the way it should be used. It is not that we have become too strict or that our students did not perform to expectations.
“The reason why we will not give out certificates during the convocation is because we do not want them to get into the hands of unscrupulous people. But the certificates will be presented on the second day,’’ he said.
