A prolific writer and erudite scholar, Abu Mazeedatil Khayr Abdur-Rauf Bn Sa’eed has charged youths to read beyond their academics in order to increase their intellectual prowess.

The author made this statement at the second Book Reading organized by the Fountain Book Club, Fountain University Osogbo held in the university premises in Osogbo, recently.
Abu Mazeedatil Khayr while featuring in a discussion section at the reading of the book “Bride of Satan”, enjoined the students to go extra mile in knowing something about everything and everything about something.
He said, “It is highly essential for learned students to read something out of everything. Exploring books that is beyond their class limit will not only make them conversant but also make them exceptional amidst their colleagues. As far as education is concerned, students should not only focus on their fields of study but explore other educational materials that could be beneficial to them.”
While lamenting the fact that youths of this generation are reluctant in seeking knowledge in every opportunity that comes their way, the author charged the students to read and never gets tired of reading.

Sequel to that, he highlighted four conditions to be a better writer and a renowned author. One of the conditions is to use their time effectively and refrain from frivolous activities.
“For you to be a good writer, you must conduct research to obtain factual information and authentic details. A writer must be ready to be praised and criticized’’, he added.

While giving his address of welcome, Mr Rasheed Adebiyi, Coordinator, Department of Mass Communication and who is also the club adviser enjoined the students to be actively involved in any academic programme and life-long beneficial events that would impact upon their lives positively.
The events featured reading from the book under review, a chit-chat with the author, photograph and autograph sessions.
