Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu has expressed his optimism on becoming the man to replace Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State in the 2019 Governorship elections.
Shittu declared his ambition when he spoke with newsmen in the capital of Oyo State, Ibadan after a meeting with members of the ruling party, All Progressive Congress(APC) from Egbeda Local Government and Ajorosun Local Council Development Area.
The Minister, who is interested in succeeding Governor Ajimobi has disclosed his intentions of improving on the good works started in the previous administration using his experience as an important tool useful in the successful governance of a state.
“I was a member of the State House of Assembly in 1979 and two-time Commissioner in the State. I have also contested the governorship seat in the state twice before I became a minister.
“These are experiences you cannot buy. Oyo is advanced and sophisticated to be handled by inexperienced administrators,’’ he said.
He further heaped praises on President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration citing his war against Boko Haram as an important achievement in Buhari’s administration.
“Boko Haram would have overrun the country if not for Buhari’s emergence,” he said.
He further explained how the President had devised strategies to counteract the threats posed by the terrorist organisation.
“The Buhari administration on assumption of office had evolved several efficient and effective strategies at reducing the threat drastically,’’ he explained.
Mr. Shittu, a Muslim, is expected to come out with clearer indications on his quest to become the next Oyo State Governor in the coming months, Aledeh.com reports.
