A former Dean  of Engineering, Department, the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Professor Sabitu A Olagoke, has called on government at all levels to empower youths to overcome the present economic challenges for realisation  of their true potential.

The professor, who is also a vice chairman, Governing Council, Institute  of Policy Management Development, spoke at the 2016 Shafaudeen Brothers  Daawah Movement Week, in Ibadan

He delivered a paper entitled: ‘Empowerment strategy amid unemployment: The challenges of the youth’, Daily Times reports.

While delivering the paper, he urged the government to proffer and implement policy that would create  room for  youth’s self-generated and rewarding employment.

Olagoke, who listed stumbling blocks to self actualization in an unfriendly  environment  stressed that joblessness was an evil deed breeder that could incite youths and even old people to violence,  ubiquitous  crimes and general insecurity.

He said that no responsible, responsive and pro-active government could stand at akimbo watch the evils that unemployment could unleash, as the society degenerate to chaos.

Professor Olagoke said  the government must promote a conducive atmosphere to inspiration and self-motivation that would led to  maturity in their march to match the Asian Tigers of China and South Korea to realize their dream  of a buoyant economy for the country.

The Rosul of the Shafaudeen Mission call on the government to quickly embark on production of young entrepreneurs  through financial education and management literacy which he stressed would change the orientation of the beneficiaries.

He stressed that youth empowerment  through development of  entrepreneurship programme would position youths to be harbingers of new order, creating jobs for themselves and others.

Thus providing  leadership that would engender  economic prosperity in the land.
