The Academic Staff Union of Universities has announced a conditional suspension of its strike action.



The ASUU President, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, announced this in Abuja late on Monday, September 18, 2017.


The ASUU and the federal government signed a memorandum of understanding  five weeks after the fifth open conciliation meeting.


Minister of Labour and Employment Chris Ngige assured ASUU that the government will ensure implementation of the said agreement.


The President of ASUU Biodun Ogunyemi confirmed the suspension of the strike and commended the efforts of government to come to a dialogue.

He also assures Nigerians that they won’t rest until the education sector is transformed.
