The State Sector Commander, Mrs Cecilia Alao, who gave the warning in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, urged motorists and other road users to obey traffic rules during and after the festive period.
“Most of our officers will not observe Eid-El Kabir festival as they have been deployed to various parts of the state to ensure that the road is safe for all users.
“Our mandate is to ensure that the roads are safe and we shall ensure that we live up to expectations. We have embarked on traffic education and sensitisation ahead of the Eid-El Kabir festival.
“It is very possible to have accident-free celebrations if motorists can obey traffic rules and regulations.
” They must not over speed or engage in dangerous driving; they must also have regards for other road users,” Alao said.
