It will be recalled that about 2 years ago a room in Awolowo Hall (Room107 Block 7) was completely destroyed by fire.

The room was rendered inhabitable and have been vacant for more than one session.

A similar event occurred yesterday at around 10:30pm. The affected room was Room 305, Block III.

The fire started from a bad electrical connection and it destroyed almost everything in the room including books, wears, and a laptop.

The fire was put out by concerned students using water mixed with detergent.

However, officers of Obafemi Awolowo University fire service (QRS) arrived shortly after the fire was put out.

Luckily, no student was in the room as at the time of the incident.

Most of the occupants have gone home following the completion of the 2016/2017 rain semester exams.

However, a part 4 pharmacy student and one Adekanbi Moses seems to be the occupant around.

Mr Moses is a part 4 student of Electrical/Electronics engineering department and currently an IT student.

Moses escaped the fire as he left the room in search of water only to return and found his room on fire.

In his attempt to save his laptop from the fire, his hand got burnt.

The pharmacy student did not witness the incident due to his ongoing exams.

Men from the fire service collected the contact details of Mr Moses.

He was told to come for questioning at their department in the University Senate building today.
