Sodiq Oyeleke, the former Amir (President) of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) has emerged as the Most Influential Student in Nigeria.
This was confirmed in a statement by the organisers of the Most popular and respected students award, OSCAR Nigeria.
In the release, Oyeleke, with voting code – HKM, was listed as part of those that emerged victorious from OAU.
Recall that SDK, as he is popularly called, was nominated under tne category of Most Influential Student in Nigeria.
SDK, who was a former president of National Association of Students of English and Literary Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University branch and the South-West Deputy Director of the same association (NASELS), has bagged many students-based awards as an undergraduate in OAU.
In 2013, SDK was nominated as one of the most influential at his class award
In 2014, SDK was rated as one of the 100 students that shaped OAU.
In 2015, OSCAR Nigeria rated SDK as the Student Journalist of the Year.
In 2016, Seal Magazine rated him as the most influential after the then OAU Students’ Union President.
In the same year, SDK appeared on OYA Magazine’s 15 most outstanding students in media’s list.
Again, last year SDK featured on Swift Entertainment Campus Journalist of the year award list.
Now in 2017, SDK has emerged as the MOST INFLUENTIAL STUDENT in Nigeria!
A press statement made available through the Office of OAU’s Secretary General, Mr. Fynestboy, while confirming SDK’s victory reads, “As we have now come to the end of the voting process, it is expedient to inform all and sundry that winners of the award will be declared and announced on March 29th while the award ceremony will hold Sunday, October 1st, 2017 at Lekki Astoria, Lekki, Lagos.
“However, we are sorry for not publishing the names of the winner as stipulated on the release and also we are sorry about those who didn’t make it. We believe another award year will be a year to reckon for us all.
“Sequel to the above, here are the codes of the winners from Obafemi Awolowo University and the winners are expected to send their pictures as we will be doing the display of pictures of the winners before the date of the event.
“WINNERS FROM OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY are DHJ, HKM – Sodiq Oyeleke’ s voting code, VUT, IHJ, UAE, XYC, YAD.”
Commenting on the award, SDK commended Nigerians who found him worthy of the award.
He said the award would gear him more towards pro-students cause.
