Getting Older & Getting Closer; Reminiscent on Life and Death!

Allah ta’ala reminded us in the Glorious Qur’an (meaning): “Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception (a deceiving thing).” [Surah Al-Imrân, 3:185]

In the light of the above verse, a poetic wordings has been coined to keep everyone of us reminded on this certain matter:

Life on earth is a journey that begun at the time of the announcement of birth;
A journey that must be travelled by everyone before reaching the time of death;
When I remember how long I have been trembling on the surface of this earth;
My mind become shaken on what I have prepared before I meet my destined end;
Thinking of how to to reach the status of goodness before my departure on this earth;
Days on earth are not long, as death might come anytime which no human can avert;
We move on in age in life, and getting older in the age of traveling on this earth;
The reverse also happen, as we get closer to the time of passing away from this earth;
Birthdays are not much important as it is only for counting the number of days spend;
Plus one to the years on earth, and also minus one year from the duration yet unspent;
Our Aqeedah (Creed) and Amal (Deeds) in life is the one that determine everyone’s end;
Whether one will be among the doomed or one will have the eternal good end;
Living this life like strangers and travelers seeking to return to the real home;
As advised and warned by Muhammad (ﷺ) in order to take heed in reaching the blissful boom;
And this serves as a reminder and admonition to me and also to those that desire the good end;
For those that already know to be aware, and the otherwise to take heed and strive to make amend;
That we can be firm on our Iman (Faith), and trail the path of the Pious Predecessors till the very end;
For this life is a continuous journey, and death will surely come one day to bring the traveling to an end.

Son of Adam! You are nothing but a number of days, whenever each day passes then part of you also passes away.” [Imam Hassan Al-Basri]
