The Chairman, Makarfi Local Government Area in Kaduna State on Sunday donated cash and garments to 97 female pilgrims from the area travelling to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj.
The Chairman, Kabiru Mu’azu-Mayere, gave each of the pilgrims N5,000 and two sets of white clothes to the pilgrims.
Muazu-Mayeri who addressed the pilgrims at the local government secretariat in Makarfi before their departure to Hajj transit camp in Kaduna, charged them to be good ambassadors of the local government while in the Holy Land.
He also advised them to adhere strictly to laid down rules and regulations of the Saudi authoriry.
The Chairman who escorted the first batch of the pilgrims to the Mando Hajj camp, commended Kaduna State Government for upgrading the camp.
The first batch of 542 pilgrims from the state had departed Kaduna for Saudi Arabia on Sunday while the second batch from Giwa and Kaduna South local governments are expected to be transported later today.
About 3,500 people are expected to perform the pilgrimage from the state this year.
