Two pilgrims from Kwara state that were
recently arrested by the Saudi Arabian
authorities for being in possession of substance
suspected to be cocaine have been released.
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria
(NAHCON), confirmed their release in a recent
statement in Abuja.
The statement added that the arrested pilgrims
from the State were released following
investigation that they were not guilty of the
offence.
Though residents of kwara, whose relatives are
performing this year Hajj exercise have been
worried, the identities of the affected pilgrims
are yet to be disclosed.
According to the statement from the Kingdom,
“the two suspects were set free after it was
discovered that the allegation for which they
were arrested was false”.
It would be recalled that two Nigerian pilgrims
from Kwara State were arrested on August 9
and 12 over alleged trafficking of drugs into
Saudi Arabia.
