We officially welcome you into this new Islamic Hijrah year and remind you that Hijrah is not only a turning point for Islam but the hallmark of sacrifice, which all Nigerian leaders must learn from.
A turning point in that, after Hijrah it was evident Islam and the Muslims became victorious clinched back their lost heritage Makkah and assumed World leadership.
Hallmark of sacrifice, in that Muslims, wet the seed of Islam with all they had, departed their family members, divorced their properties, and banished from their homelands.
In fact, there are humongous lessons to learn from Hijrah. We are to move from our sins to repentance, unislamic lifestyle to Islamic, crude to a civilised way of life, injustice to justice, greed to contentment, corruption to transparency, killings to peace. Above all from extremism to justly balanced positions, all these and more are lessons from Hijrah.
We pray Allah take our dear society, state, and country to a lofty height and make us best among equals. We implore Nigerian youths to be law-abiding, peace-loving, and agents of positive change, wherever they find themselves.
We commend Osun and Kano State Governments for declaring a Hijrah Public Holiday. It is our hope that other state governments will do the same in the coming year. It is a worthy way of promoting religious equity.
