At the University of Ibadan, it is the season of history and record breaking. Another record is being set by the University of Ibadan. Only last week, girls broke the institution’s records both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. While a lady made a 7.0 CGPA in her bachelor degree, another lady also had a 7.0 CGPA in her master’s degree.

Today, a veiled woman, Motunrayo Kafilat Oyaremi, will be conferred with the award of doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) in educational evaluation.

Her research work was on girl-child education in the north.

Mrs. Oyaremi is the first veiled Muslim to bag a Ph.D. from the institution but it is not sure whether the woman is not the first veiled Muslim to reach that educational height in Nigeria.

The 39-year old had graduated from the institution’s department of theatre arts in 2005, going home with a federal government scholarship as the best graduating student.

She later enrolled for a postgraduate diploma in education after which she bagged a master’s degree in early childhood education.

A playwright, she has written a number of children books majorly play etc. She runs a Nursery and Primary School; Milestone School Ibadan.
