The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Mohammed-Bashir Salihu, on Friday identified repentance from sins as prevention to the outbreak of deadly diseases such as coronavirus.
Mr Salihu, in his Friday sermon at the Ilorin Central Mosque, described the current coronavirus pandemic as most challenging and worrisome.
The cleric urged the congregation to adhere to the health and safety measures proffered by professionals regarding the virus.
He said that Allah sends such a pandemic into a country or the world mostly due to blasphemy.
The spiritual leader admonished people to be committed to good deeds at all times and refrain from doing evil.
He also enjoined the congregation to recite some verses of the Holy Quran which he said were spiritual solutions to plagues such as the coronavirus.
