Izala Islamic sect spends N27m on orphans in Katsina

The Orphan Support Care Committee of the Izala Islamic Sect in Katsina State on Thursday said it spent N27 million on providing succour to orphans and widows in the state.

Sheikh Yakubu Musa, the National Chairman of Izalah Islamic Sect Preachers Association made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Katsina.

NAN reports that the Izalatul Bid’ah wa Ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) established the orphans care committee about five years ago to assist orphans overcome social and economic challenges.

“In the year 2017, the orphans support committee spent the sum of N27 million to purchase food stuffs, clothing and other essential commodities that were distributed to orphans and widows in the state.

“The committee purchased the items that have direct bearing to the lives of the orphans and widows, and the commodities were distributed to orphans across 34 Local Government Areas of the state.

“The Malumfashi LGA Office of the committee has even introduced scholarship scheme for orphans,” he said.

Musa said that the committee also provided clothing materials to the orphans in enable them celebrate the Sallah festival in a happy mood.

He said that the committee had commenced collection of financial assistance from well-meaning Nigerians in order to put a smile on the faces of orphans during the forthcoming Sallah festival.

Musa  appealed to the members of the public to donate generously towards assisting orphans and widows in Katsina state.
