The Plateau chapter of the Judiciary Muslim Women Association (JUMWAP), says it has fed 200 almajiri children during the Ramadan fast in the state.
President of the association, Mrs Ramatu Mogaji made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos while outlining the objectives of the association.
According to her the objective of the association is to institute collective and effective measures for the eradication of all forms of ignorance, preventable diseases, and abject poverty among Nigerians especially the Muslim ummah.
‘’ This is our first outing since inception and we intend to do more and go all the way to visit the almajiri children and provide comfort to them,”she said.
Mogaji said that the association is made up of 20 women from different courts within the state that are passionate about the plight of the almajiri children.
She said that the women put together some amount of money to organise the feeding programme for the children.
Morgaji, however called on the States and Federal Government as well as Non Governmental Organisations to support the association in putting smiles on the faces of the children by providing their basic needs.
The President said that association in Jos has been actively involved with the almajiri children with the hope of making their lives better and more comfortable.
