Shaykh Muhammad bn Saalih Al-Uthaymeen(may ALLAAH have mercy on him) says:
Kissing the mushaf(Qur’an) is a Bid’ah(innovation), because the one kissing the Qur’an wants to seek nearness to ALLAAH by kissing it, and from what is known is that you don’t seek nearness to ALLAAH except with what ALLAAH has legislated.
And in the era of the prophet(may the peace and blessings of ALLAAH be upon him) the Qur’an was written, it was written but it wasn’t compiled, they wrote some verses down and with that the prophet did not kiss it, and likewise the companions, so it is Bid’ah and it is forbidden, also I do see some people kissing it and placing their forehead on it like someone prostrating on it and this is forbidden and atrocious.
