In order to ensure sanity returns to Lagos State University (LASU), the school management has dismissed 17 Academic and non-academic Staff and demoted two others over allegedly falsifying their Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) results and manipulation of students’ results.

Other allegations leveled against the dismissed staff also include alleged inducement, default in Training Leave bond and abandonment of duty post.

The school management also demanded that the dismissed staff refund the sum of N53 million earlier disbursed to them to embark on training within the country and abroad to its coffer.

LASU, in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday by the Acting Head, Centre for Information Press And Public Relations (CIPPRO), Ademola Adekoya, said that the dismissal followed due processes.

According to the statement, Section 6(1) and (2) of the LASU Law 2004 (as amended), the Council of the institution is the governing authority of the University, and exercises general oversight over the Institution and its affairs.

“The Council at its 115th Meeting which held of Thursday 7th September, 2017, considered among others the report of its Joint Council /Senate (Academic) Disciplinary Committee and the Joint Council (Administrative and Technical Staff) Disciplinary Committee. Pursuant thereto the Governing Council with immediate effect dismissed fifteen (15) members of the Academic Staff, two (2) members of non-academic staff, and sanctioned others for different acts of misconduct.

“The Joint Council /Senate (Academic) Disciplinary Committee and the Joint Council (Administrative and Technical Staff) Disciplinary Committee which heard the cases strictly followed all laid down procedures, and duly gave opportunity to the individuals involved to defend themselves. The Lagos State University is poised to continue to quality assure its processes,” it added.

Some of the staff dismissed by the institution includes: Some of the academic staff dismissed were: Dr. Isaac Oyewunmi; Senior Lecturer, Department of Human Kinetics, Sports and Health Education, Faculty of Education, Dr. Adebowale Adeyemi-Suenu; Senior Lecturer and Acting Head, Department of History and International studies, Faculty of Arts, Olatoye Raji, Assistant Lecturer, Department of Religions, (Islamic Studies Unit), Faculty of Arts, Dr. Olugbenro Odofin; Senior Lecturer, Department of Education Foundation and Counselling Psychology, Faculty of Education and Dr. Adebowale Ademeso, Senior Lecturer, Department of Theatre Arts and Music, Faculty of Arts.

Others were: Dr. John Adeogun; Associate Professor, Department of Human Kinetics, Sports and Health Education, Faculty of Education, Dr. Scholastica Udegbe; Lecturer 1 Department of Marketing, Faculty of Management Sciences, Dr. Olufemi Soyeju; Lecturer ll in the Department of Jurisprudence and International Law, Faculty of Law, Dr. Olawale Raimi; Senior Lecturer, Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science, Ademola Adesina; Lecturer ll, Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, Dr. Shamisudeen Badmus; Lecturer ll, Department of Accounting, Faculty of Management Sciences, Dr. Christiana Obagbuwa; Lecturer ll, Department of Computer Science, , Faculty of Science,
