Ayeyemi Taofeek Kehinde with the penname Aswagaawy, on Saturday 15th of October, 2016, beat his co-runners and bagged home a national young writer award “Creative Writer of The Year” at the second edition of the literary event “Beauty of Words” organized by THE POETRY COURT.

Earlier this year, apart from the academic laurels, he won the Best Writer Award (LASULAWS 2016), he made it to the African Poets Encyclopedia and came first in the SRAF Poetry Contest inter alia.

“There are three awards given to the young writers viz. The Creative Writer of the Year, The Spoken Word poet of the Year and The Poetry Promoter of the Year. The accolades are meritoriously awarded as there are criteria followed by our judges.” Said, the organizer.

“Apart from the number of votes, the other criteria are number of nomination, quality of works submitted, proficiency and prolificacy of the nominees, impact to the literary world before and after the nomination.” He added.

Aswagaawy, who finished his final year examination as a Law Student of Lagos State University (LASU) two days before the award, said: “It is a double celebration for me. And I dedicate the honour to all my readers.”
