The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria has congratulated the 2017 winner of the spelling competition, Zofun Bukola of Awodi Ora senior high school, Ajeromi in Education District 5. Bukola emerged winner of the keenly contested competition on Tuesday in Lagos.

The Amir (President) of the MSSN in Lagos, Dr. Saheed Ashafa, in a press statement, congratulated Bukola and other finalists at the competition for the achievement. He charged the students to remain forward looking as the sky is not just their limit but a starting point for whoever remains resolute to succeed.

He commended Lagos State government for sustaining the initiative since inception 17 years back.

To motivate the teachers, he advised the government to also award the teachers of the winners in subsequent editions.

He wrote “We must acknowledge and commend Lagos state government for sustaining this programme despite the huge resources it gulps annually. We however advise that teachers who coach these students to success should also be rewarded in the coming years.”

Recall that MSSN Lagos State chapter organised a reception for the 2016 winner of the competition and his cabinet members in a Merit Award ceremony held July last year.

Ashafa maintained that MSSN will continue to acknowledge and support government and non- governmental organizations in academic and other youth development programmes.

Other winners at the competition include Owode Mariam of Education District 3 and Ajayi Qudrah of Education District 6.
