The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has set motions to launch its annual programme tagged ‘Jihad Week’.

This year’s Jihad Week- The Week of Strife – is themed: ‘The Misplaced Priority’.

The week launch, which holds on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the A101 Hall of the College of Biological Sciences (COLBIOS) of the school, is expected to have Dr. Sharafadeen Kareem as a guest lecturer.

The Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Mallam Abdulkareem Yusuf, in an interview with The iWitness NG said the launch was to create awareness and get support for the week.

He said, “The Jihad Week which comprises of ten fully loaded days stands to correct the wrong notion of many who believe that ‘Jihad’ means other than what it means in Islam which is to strife in establishing the good. This correction will be made through the many life-rendering packages and awareness that has been planned.

“The week itself is scheduled to be from 25th August, to 4th September, 2016 and the launching of the week is what is holding on Wednesday, 10th of August.”

The Amir of the society, Mallam Abdulazeez Shobajo, urged Muslims to contribute financially to make the week a reality.

He added, “This week will be the best the whole FUNAAB will witness this year, In Sha Allah, as we have beautiful plans embedded therein. There is the formal opening, humanitarian visits, grand community service, quiz competitions, field trips, excursion and the most exquisite of all – the two-day MSSN
FUNAAB Trade Fair!”
