The Ameer of Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Universiy Branch, Alabidun Mudathir Mahfuz, has urged Muslims students to path the right way so as to gain paradise.

He said this in a press conference, which marks the opening of 2019 Jihad week  with the theme “The Esplanade” at Lagos State University Main Mosque.

He said, “The main purpose of Jihaad week is to  propagate Islam  and change the contradictory negative belief that Jihad means ‘ fighting or warfaring ‘ as often misconceptualised.

“It is a medium to  actively encourage fellow Muslims in the pursuance of greater piety in all aspects of lives and also an  avenue to educate, inform, inculcate, enlighten and reorientate  the Muslim students  on the tenets, doctrines and values of islamic teachings  on  how we can live successfully as muslim in this world  and  the thereafter.”

He urged lecturers to teach the courses they were supposed to teach without attaching any monetary value.

He lamented that “Away from the Jihadweek, it’s very pertinent that we use this medium to comment about a news  released as regards some purpoted Niqabites who was said to have been raped April 2018.

“The society wants to categorically state that from what we have gathered, the students are indeed Muslim sisters of Lagos State University but not Niqabite as they had to use the Niqab in court in order to conceal their identity in order not to be stigmatized.”

Alabidun stressed that the society condemned the act in totality adding that the university management and the victims will be given the necessary support so as to get the culprits.

In the same vein, the Chairman Jihad Week Committee, Adebowale Abdul-Gafar Adeniran, said after the week, students were expected to be better Muslims.

He, however, advised students to be good persons irrespective of the community they found themselves, adding that they should not forget their primary assignment in LASU.
