Eid-ul-Adha (Ileya) Message from MSSN OAU

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

The echo of the phrase “Allahu Akbar” drops with sheer joy and celebration from the tongues of billions of Muslims throughout the world. The celebration of this festive revolves round the family of Prophet Ibrahim, the father of all faith (Peace be Upon Him). Or one will not be wrong to say that we are celebrating the life of Ibrahim (AS) for his steadfastness, perseverance, patience and being God-fearing by obeying the commandment of Allah. Allah’s tribulation, test and sacrifice made Prophet Ibrahim the founding stone of Islam which each and every Muslim must circumambulate.
Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon him) was described by Allah as a patient person in whatever condition he finds himself and whenever Allah decreed to test his faith “… In Allah’s will, you will find me among the patient ones” [Q37V102]. Prophet Ibrahim was described as pious being who neither disputed Allah’s injunctions nor engaged any man in futile argument. He says, “… So whosoever intends to perform Hajj therein by assuming, then he should not have sexual relation, nor commit sin, nor dispute unjustly during Hajj…”[Q2V197]

This is an encompassing message from Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his family from which Allah urges everybody (Muslim and Christian) to take cue and great lessons from. “Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah.”[Q89V26.] No doubt, MSSN OAU is currently in a situation which demands every Muslim, particularly students, to be patient, persevere and remain steadfast. Every generation has to face its challenges which Allah has decreed upon them. Say (O Muhammad): “I have no power over any harm or profit to myself except what Allah may will. For every generation, there is a term appointed; when their term reached, neither can they delay it nor can they advance it an hour.” [Q11V49]

I hear the whisper and clamour of every Muslim Student concerning the current situation of MSSN OAU. But, I would like to remind everyone that every Muslim mean well for this religion, Islam, and no one plans to shatter away the shinning moon of our unity on campus into cluster of galaxy on the sky. It is a matter of time and trial to test our steadfastness as Prophet Ibrahim was also tested before us. Let’s all summon a new spirit of brotherhood and sense of togetherness. No one is going to be a loser but we shall all celebrate our victory as Allah says, “So do not become weak, nor be sad, and you will be superior (in victory) if you are indeed true believers.”[Q3V139]

Meanwhile, the fabric and texture of our culture and morality as students has torn and worn out into a jungle of immorality where indecent dressing, examination malpractice and violence are celebrated by most students. We have nude our cloth of honour and piety given to us by Allah. He says, “O Children of Adam! We have bestowed clothe upon you to cover yourselves with, and adornment; and clothe of piety is better…” [Q7V26]
On this I urge the Muslim faithful and Christian faithful to turn to pseudo politicians and campaign against indecent dressing, violence, examination malpractice and cultism as being advocated by the Division of Student Affairs. These immoral obscenities are the bases of the mainstream corruption currently affecting our economic and socio-political life in the entire Country. This is the campaign every student must subscribe to under the leadership of Dr. (Mrs) G. O. Akinola if truly we embrace the teachings of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him)

On behalf of MSSN OAU Executives, I wish every Muslim student, OAU Muslim Community, UNIFEMGA, parents and the entire populace a happy “Eid-Ul-Mubaraq”
