Lagosians who are interested in performing this year pilgrimage to Rome, Israel and Greece can now pay in instalments.
Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr AbdulHakeem AbdulLateef disclosed this at a news conference held at Baguda Press Centre, in Alausa yesterday.
Noting that Muslim faithful can now join Lagos contingent to visit Masjid Aqsa, the third holiest Mosque in Jerusalem, Dr AbdulLateef explained that such joint tour of holy land would further promote religious harmony.
“We will also be accommodating Muslims who intend to visit Jerusalem because Jerusalem is home to the third holiest mosque.”
The Commissioner explained that the initiative approved by Governor Akinwumi Ambode, was in consideration of the present economic situation in the country.
“Am happy to inform our people that Governor Akinwumi Ambode has approved installment payment for this year’s Christian pilgrimage due to the economic situation in the country. People should take advantage of this initiative”
Dr AbdulLateef hinted that the State government wishes to patner any individual or religious leader who mobilizes fifty people for the pilgrimage would benefit a commission of a free slot to the holy land.
“This arrangement is an international marketing strategy. We expect that Lagosians take advantage of this opportunity to perform pilgrimage to holy land”, he said.
He reaffirmed the state government commitment to religious harmony in the state and by extension the nation at large.
Intending pilgrims for this year’s Christian pilgrimage are expected to pay a sum of Five Hundred and Eighty Thousand (#580,000) for Israel alone and a total of Seven Hundred and Twenty Thousand Naira (#720,000) for combination of Rome, Israel and Greece.
The pilgrimage fees could be paid according to your pocket, either once, twice to five times before the pilgrimage time.
