With the magnitude of stress, pain and frustration Nigerian students are made to go through while making effort to register for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination through the newly introduced method of registering, it is safe to conclude that the leadership of JAMB under Prof Ishaq Oloyede is simply clueless or confused.
When JAMB announced the introduction of the new pin vending means of registration Nigerians and students in particular welcomed it with the hope that it will bring improvement and make registration and sitting for the exams stress-free. Today however, rather than bring improvement the new method has become a source of pain, anguish and stress for admission seekers.
There is no tenable excuse whatsoever to warrant the suffering JAMB is making Nigerian students go through before registering. It takes one students an average of a week before he/she can complete registration, that is if the JAMB server or the internet service of the bank work as it should. A visit to any of the participating banks or CBT registration centre will attest to this facts.
No wonder the array of protest that has greeted the policy across the country. Nigerians have been through a lot already, Prof Oloyede should not “chastise us with scorpion”.
We hereby call on the appropriate authorities to call JAMB to order by reverting to the old means of registration or developing a less cumbersome procedure for registration. The alternative is for Prof Oloyede to throw in the towel or face the wrath of Nigerian students.
