Muslims in Ondo State, under the aegis of All Progressives Congress Muslim Council, have urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to consider an Islamic faithful as running mate to the party’s governorship candidate, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) in the forthcoming election.

Making the demand in Akure, the council however recalled their unflinching support for APC since 2014, but warned that going contrary to their demands could wreak havoc for the party.

Coordinator of APC Muslim Council, Akure South, Mr. Saheed Adeki, who led the Islamic faithful across the state to make the rally, argued that since the party has picked a Christian as its gubernatorial candidate, “it is imperative to have a Muslim as his running mate.”

“Since we are not lucky enough to clinch the governorship slot, the only way the party can repay us of all our support and contributions to the growth of the party, is to consider a Muslim as deputy governor in the next government.
