Dr Obawale Adebisi, Osun Commissioner for Home Affairs, made the call at a meeting held with religious leaders in Osogbo.
Adebisi stated that regardless of culture, religion and ethnicity, the virtues of tolerance, peace and unity, compassion and accommodation must be adopted by all.
According to the commissioner, the present administration will not promote one religion over the other.
He said the state government was happy with the cooperation of adherents of the two major religions and suggested that regular meetings be held to promote peace and unity.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mr Adebunmi Alabi, emphasised the need to promote equity, fairness, love and peace in the state.
The Mufasir of Osogbo, Sheik Maruf Ishola, on his part, advised religious leaders to be sincere in their preaching to foster a better society .
