Dr Amos Cirfat, Provost, Federal College of Education, Pankshin, Plateau, on Thursday urged the Jama’atu Nasir Islam (JNI) to work toward maintenance of peaceful coexistence among the people of the area.
Cirfat made the call when the leadership of JNI, Pankshin branch, paid him a solidarity visit in his office.
“As leaders of the Muslim community here in Pankshin, you should pravail on your members to keep the prevailing peace being enjoyed in Pankshin and its environs.
“The fact is that without peace there can never be any development, which we are all striving to achieve as a state and nation, ” he said.
Cirfat, who thanked the union for the visit, pledged to work with the JNI and other religious bodies for the maintenance of peace within the college campus for academic excellence.
He appealed to the group to help in appointing an Imam for the Muslim students in the school in order to coordinate their activities and inculcate good morals in the them to be good leaders of tomorrow.
Earlier, the Chairman of the association, Alhaji Abdullahi Yannan, told the Provost that they were in his office to congratulate him on his reappointment as Provost of the college.
“We are grateful to God and President Muhammadu Buhari for finding you worthy to continue to steer the affairs of the college for another term of four years.
“Our prayer for you is to succeed in this second tenure by transforming the college to an enviable academic height, ” said.
He appealed to the Provost to remember the union’s members whenever employment opportunities became available in the college.
