League of Imams and Alfas of Yorubaland, also known as Rabita, has identified three causes of coronavirus in the world.

In a statement by the spokesman for the league and Mudir Markaz, Agege, Lagos,  Sheikh Habibullah Adam Abdullahi El-Ilory,

The league urged federal and state governments to ensure that there is notable improvement in the health sector by finding wisdom in the axiom that: “health is wealth.”

“After education, the health sector should be next in terms of budgetary allocation. Our hospitals should be well equipped with state of the art facilities that can make them compete favourably with the best in the world. The personnel at the Ministry of Science and Technology, universities and research institutions should be encouraged through regular funds to carry out scientific researches that can be useful at times like this”, the organisation said.

Rabita also advised governments at various levels to prioritise agriculture for improved living standard of the people and healthy living. Then prayers for  the affected people  and those who died as a result of this pandemic

Giving special kudos to Lagos State Governor and his team for taking the right steps in the right direction in sensitising the people, providing necessary medical equipment and food items for people of the state, the league advised everyone to come to God in repentance and seek His forgiveness in accordance with God’s directive that  “O my people, beg your Lord to forgive you, and turn to Him in repentance. He will send down rain in torrents on you from the skies, and give you added strength. So, do not turn away from Him as sinners”.

Rabita prayed for quick and speedy recovery of those affected by the pandemic and Allah’s protection for frontline health and allied workers in the struggle to arrest Corona virus pandemic.

Part of the release reads: “We commend all tiers of government in Nigeria for the efforts being made to curtail this pandemic. We also salute the courage of medical personnel who have been working tirelessly to manage the cases in the country and ensure we do the right thing to avert further spread. We are also grateful to our military and Para-military groups who have been assigned specific roles to curtail further spread of this pandemic. We are equally indebted to corporate organisations and individuals who have generously contributed money and relief packages to assist people in this trying period. Your dogged determination and commitment are noted and well appreciated.

“COVID-19 is a pandemic similar in nature to FLU but it is obviously deadlier than Flu. Going by Islamic perspective, a plague or pandemic such as COVID-19 can be caused in either of three ways or all. These are: direct trial of God, wrath of God and man made.

“God Has unequivocally declared in the Quran that He will from time to time subject His creations to trial.

The consequences of our grievous sins such as homosexuality and lesbianism etc can make us incur the wrath of God. This could be the reason why the world is afflicted with this pandemic.

If the cause of the pandemic is Man-made that invariably is the ultimate repercussion of man’s evil/diabolical inventions such as chemical or biological weapons. Remember Hiroshima and Nagasaki and not too long ago CHENOBYL Nuclear Disaster.

Here are various verses of the Glorious Quran to support the above assertion:

“He has towards the three also transcends who had refused to go to the battery of the ditch whose case was left undecided, and even the earth with all its expanse had become narrow for them, and their lives were confined, and they came to realise there was no refuge for them except in God. So He softened towards them that they may repent: for God surely accepts repentance”. Q:9 v 118 (Surat Taubah)

“When our Torment reached them, why then did they not humble themselves (believe with humility)? But their hearts became hardened, and Shaitan (Satan) made fair-seeming to them that which they used to do”. Q: 6 v 43 (Surah Al-An’am)

“And a great number of towns (their population) We destroyed (for their crimes). Our torment came upon them (suddenly) by night or while they were taking their midday nap”. Q: 7 v 4 (Surah Al-A’raf)

“See they not know that they are put in trial once or twice every year (with different kinds of calamities, disease, famine)? Yet, they turn not in repentance, nor do they learn a lesson (from it)”. Q: 9 v 126 (Surah Taubah)

It was also narrated that ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar said: “The Messenger of Allah turned to us and said: ‘O Muhajirun, there are five things with which you will be tested, and I seek refuge with Allah lest you live to see them: Immorality never appears among a people to such an extent that they commit it openly, but plagues and diseases that were never known among the predecessors will spread among them. They do not cheat in weights and measures but they will be stricken with famine, severe calamity and the oppression of their rulers. They do not withhold the Zakah of their wealth, but rain will be withheld from the sky, and were it not for the animals, no rain would fall on them. They do not break their covenant with Allah and His Messenger, but Allah will enable their enemies to overpower them and take some of what is in their hands. Unless their leaders rule according to the Book of Allah and seek all good from that which Allah has revealed, Allah will cause them to fight one another.
