Ramadan: Ekiti Speaker counsels Muslims

The Speaker of Ekiti House of Assembly, Mr Adeniran Alagbada, has urged Muslim faithful to use the Ramadan to seek peace for Nigeria.

Alagbada gave the admonition in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr Toyin Babalola, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ado-Ekiti on Monday.

The speaker extended his heartfelt congratulations to Muslim faithful in the country for witnessing another season of fasting and fervent prayers.

“The month of Ramadan is usually noted for its spiritual encounter with Almighty Allah in fasting and prayer.

“Nigerian Muslims and Ekiti, in particular, must seek peace for the nation to justify the essence of the 30-day period of sober reflection,” said Alagbada.

While saying that the importance of the Ramadan period could not be overemphasised, he urged the faithful to pray for sustainable peace and development in Ekiti and Nigeria at large.

“I want Ekiti Muslim faithful to see it as a responsibility to assist the government with special intervention prayers as laid down in the Holy Quran.

“I believe such prayers, offered to Almighty Allah at this holy period, will ensure an advancement of our socio- economic and political space,” he said.
