RE: RELIGIOUS CRISIS TENSION AND THE SHUT DOWN OF THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY DUTSIN-MA

Sequel to the publication by the saharareporters.com, hausa.naija.ng, dailynigerian.com, cliqqTV & magazine, and some other media with respect to the indefinite closure of the Federal University Dutsin-ma. Muslim student society Federal University Dutsin-ma Branch is using this channel to clarify the populace of the false and biased information been circulated on the social, online and print media about the said Muslim students or Islamic students protest that led to the closure of the institution.

1. The Muslim  Students Society (MSSN) Federal University Dutsin-ma, isolates itself from the leadership tussle in the university as it has announced its neutral stance on the issue in the hostel mosque and even went as far as informing the acting Chief Security Officer of her neutrality prior to the said protest and closure of the university.

2. The report that Muslim students and staff said they were going for jihad against the Christian student and staff should not be attributed to Muslim Students’ Society as this is untrue, not factual, biased and unprofessional of the media to spread such falsified and inciting information which could further worsen the situation.

3. It took the efforts of the Muslim Students’ Society to douse the tension in the university by urging her members to desist from holding a protest in support or against any of the parties involved.

4. We urge the Muslim students to remain calm and peaceful as they have always been and also not feel libeled or slandered by the media and some individuals in and outside the university.

We also call on social media and print media to desist from giving spurious and biased account of what happened as this could cause unnecessary acrimony and tension in and outside the university, Katsina state and the federation as a whole.

This is not a Muslim-Christian student’s crisis hence it should not be attributed to Muslim students or given any religious dimension.
