Sheikh Daurawa intervenes in Sadau suspension from MOPPAN

An Islamic cleric and Commander-General of the Hibah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, has waded into the expulsion of popular Hausa actress, Rahama Ibrahim Sadau from the Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, MOPPAN.

MOPPAN recently expelled Sadau for hugging and cuddling in a romantic musical video by a Jos-born musician, ClassiQ, and the actress had reacted to the expulsion.

In a statement, she took responsibility for her actions.

Shortly after her expulsion, the Kaduna-born actress was invited by US-based Nigerian film-maker, Jeta Amata, and international star, Aliaume Damala Badara Akon Thiam, better known as Akon, to visit the set of their new film in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

Lending his voice to the development, the Kano-based Islamic scholar called on the 22-year-old actress to turn down the invitation extended to her to visit the Hollywood.

In an open letter addressed to the actress on Facebook in Hausa, Daurawa said, “Islam agrees with people being told to mend their ways when they make mistake.

“I suggest that marriage would be better for the actress because the problem the actress had with Kanywood was trial from God to test her faith.”
