The Muslim Ummah Council of Nigeria (MUCON) South-East chapter has said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to the region would offer greater opportunity, urging the Igbo to consolidate on the gains of the visit with a view to moving Ndigbo into the political mainstream of the country.




The group in a statement sent to Vanguard, jointly signed by the coordinator of the group, Sheikh Adam Idoko and the Executive Secretary, Dr. Haroun Ogbonnia Ajah said  the visit would also promote the Igbo Presidency agenda come 2023.




“We thanked His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari President and commander-In-Chief, Federal Republic of Nigeria for his 2-day official visit to the South-East of Nigeria which ended on Wednesday.


 “This is a great opportunity for the good people of South–East of Nigeria to consolidate on the need to move Ndigbo into the political mainstream of the Nigeria project as the surest way for promotion of the Nigeria presidency of Igbo extraction comes 2023. 



“It will be recalled that the leadership of the Muslim Ummah Council of Nigeria (MUCON) had interactive audience with President Muhammadu Buhari recently where the South-East delegates appealed to Mr. President to fulfill all his promises to Ndigbo for the realization of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport; the Enugu true status; the second Niger Bridge construction; rehabilitation and reconstruction of Enugu-Onitsha and Enugu–Port Harcourt high ways in addition to the new railway projects across the South-East region,” the group said.
