ALIHAMDULILH! Witnessing another Islam lunar year is one of the favours of Allaah on us and a test whether we will increase the record of goodness or sink more in the the murky water of fanciful sins(like the one attached to this day).
Muslims are increasingly adopting the cultures and idiosyncrasies the earlier generations were not known with. Some of these cultures are generally harmless as they are products of civilization, while others just are plain errors.
We may not indeed fathom the dangers associated with them, but the end results and what they feature will always guide us to the their true colours. A reasonable number of Muslims all over the world woke up today with the thought that today is a special day of felicitation and deserves being appreciated maybe through messages, special prayers, parties, etc., which cannot be traced to the prophet nor to the pious predecessors. The point of concern especially is that this will come again only during the first of Muharram of another year because an average Muslim today hardly know the twelve lunar months let alone follow the tracks of those months.
This is a big deal in our generation where the legacy of the prophet has been abandoned and its upholders have become strangers.
Respected brothers and sisters, this day is not a day of felicitation, rather a day to set a new course in our lives, a day to start doing jihaad from Allaah’s don’ts to HIS dos. Lastly, let’s begin to appreciate the beauty and uniqueness in this religion. The lunar months and years are ours. Let us be a steady follower of these months, for the success of this generation lies with accepting what was appealing to the past generations and our glory lies with following the path they tread. May Allaah grant us khayr and make us better Muslims.
