The Spiritual Side Of Senator Sikiru Bayo Osinowo Pepperito By Yinka Salaam

Little did many know that Senator Sikiru Bayo Osinowo who was buried on Monday according to the Islamic rite at his residence in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State at exactly 11:20pm, was not only a devout Muslim, he was also a Daiyah ((Caller) and he remained one of the few committed Muslims in politics among his peers.
Acxording to sources, Pepper learnt the pristine Islam when he was in detention along with many others in Gen Ibrahim Babangida and Gen Sani Abacha days during the struggle to actualise the annuled June 12 election.
In a condolence message by the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) Kosofe Area Council, Sen. Osinowo popularly called Pepper was a good Muslim who supported many worthy causes during his lifetime.
“He was a former patron of MSSN Maryland Central Branch under MSSN Kosofe Area Council.
“His efforts during the building of the Mosque at Ogudu Grammar School, Ogudu GRA, Lagos and support to the Area Council during the last Islamic Vacation Course (IVC) in December 2019 are still fresh in our memory.”
One of the Brothers in the Area Council said, “I was at his Ijebu Ode residence where he was preaching Islam to some politicians who visited him. I equally learnt that he converted his father in law ( formerly a celestial pastor) to Islam. In fact, he converted the whole family and sent all of them to Hajj
“Senator Osinowo used to give lectures everyday in his mosque after Salatus Subuh, using English Qur’an.
“May Allah accept all of these efforts from him and reward him with Paradise. And may Allah make it a hujjah for him on the day of judgement. Amin”, he prayed.
Sister Lateefah Oliwo whose father was one of the party leaders in Kosofe in his life-time said, “Senator Osinowo was very close to my father when they were both alive. Sometimes, when I asked my father about his Solat, to kbow how conscious he was able to say his Salat, he usually replied: I have prayed with Pepper. One of my cousins who worked under hm till death acknowledges him as a very devoted Muslim. May Allah forgive him his shortcomings”, she said.
Dr Ally Hassan of the Olabisi Onabanjo University who also lived in Kosofe remarked, “I think this man is just very lucky. If we go by what we know of what happens to the dead immediately after burial, his family could be consoled thus, that what is close to reality is that Allaah will forgive their dead as many people attest to his being conscious of his deen.
Of course as a human being, he has his mistakes, may Allah overlook and forgive them”, he said.
We pray Allah grants his family, the Ummah and the entire nation the patience and fortirude to bear this great loss.
