THE Muslim Congress (TMC) has hailed the newly elected Deputy President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Sakariyau Babalola.

The Amir, The Muslim Congress, Dr. Luqman AbdurRaheem, in a statement on behalf of the group, described Babalola as a philanthropic icon.

A statement by the TMC reads, “It is not surprising that the nomination of Alhaji S. O. Babalola as the new Deputy General (South) of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) was met with overwhelming support from Islamic organisations and eminent personalities at the recent general meeting of NSCIA in Benin, Edo State.

“No matter how big a crowd may be, Alhaji S. O. Babalola always stands out because of his untiring charitable support service to Islam and humanity. You worked hard, you deserve it, and you have got it. Please accept the felicitation of The Muslim Congress and the teeming members across Lagos, Abuja, Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Niger, Yobe and Rivers on this wonderful and well-deserved recognition to serve Allah and His cause.”

Recall that the general congress of the NSCIA elected Sakariyau Babalola as its Deputy President-General, to replace the late Aare Musulumi of Yoruba Land, Abdul-Azeez Arisekola Alao.
