THE pioneer Amir (President) of The Muslim Congress (TMC), Alhaji AbdurRasaq AbdusSalam Aweyewaserere of Ilota compound, Aran-Orin, Kwara State is set to give out his first daughter, Safiyyah Ajoke in marriage to Dr. AbdurRasheed Olajide Iyanda.

The most anticipated Aqdun/Walimatu-Nikah will take place today, Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the open field of the APC Secretariat, Oke-Ona, Ikorodu, Lagos state by 10:00am.

The iWitness gathered that all hands are on deck to ensure the success of the holy solemnization, which will be conducted by erudite Islamic scholar and Naibul-Amir of TMC, Sheikh Ismaeel Busayri, who is also the Guest Lecturer.

It is equally going to be superlative, going by the array of guests expected to honour the groom’s father, who was the former Special Assistant to the Director-General, Voice of Nigeria.

Members of The Muslim Congress (TMC), Al-Mu’minaat, Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit and the VAOSA Family (Vanguards Old Students Association; the bride’s secondary school alma mater), among others are ready to make the day a memorable experience for the couple.

The elated groom’s joy knows no bounds. Speaking with The iWitness, Dr. Iyanda said he feels very honoured by Almighty Allah, who gave him a “pure lady”, whom he also calls cariño, a Spanish word for “sweetness”.

According to him, “After her religion, simplicity and cheerfulness are the major attractions.”

As for the bride, the joy of getting married today is already written all over her face. She couldn’t hide her feelings while speaking with our correspondent.

Otherwise known as ‘Staofiyyah’ by the VAOSA family, she described her ‘tesoro’, a Spanish word for ‘treasure’ as a great listener and an understanding and wonderful person.

‘I just love him for who he is’, she gushed.

Dr. ABDURRASHEED Olajide Remilekun Iyanda is a native of Alasoro, Ifelodun Local Government, Kwara state.

He attended Al-Faruq International School before proceeding to Al-Faruq Comprehensive College, Lagos, where he graduated as the best student in Mathematics.

He tutored at Excell, De Formula and Peace Comprehensive Colleges before gaining admission to study Medicine and Surgery at the University of Ilorin in 2007. Interestingly, he also won the Shell scholarship.

He has been an active member of MSSN Isolo Area Council and MSSN College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin and he is currently the Assistant General Secretary, Standard Bearers Islamic Organisation, Ilorin.

Hajia SAFIYYAH’s educational sojourn began at MIMS Primary School, Bariga. She is a member of the famous G13, the first set of students to be admitted into Vanguards Academy, Odosengolu, Ogun State.

Just like her father, Hajia Safiyyah’s love for the pen profession made her study Mass Communication at the University of Ilorin and University of Lagos for her B.Sc and M.Sc respectively.

She also bagged Diplomas in Human Resource Management, General Health Safety and Level 3 Health & Safety.

As a Corps member, she served with Daily Trust Newspapers in Abuja and at the moment, she works with The Nation Newspapers in Lagos.

“O Allah, let this couple-to-be (Safiyyah and AbdurRasheed) be helpers and protectors of one another, let them be a refuge and comfort to one another, let them be beautiful garments for one another, and let them experience the many treasures and beauties of marriage.”

Ameen! Ameen!! Ameen!!!
