IT was an atmosphere of excellence at an academic fair organised for Muslim students of the University of Lagos(UNILAG) on September 7, 2016 at the Faculty of Business Administration.

The event was flooded with academic scholars who shared their experiences, academic achievements and how they surmounted challenges.

The speaker at the event Ismaila Mansur, a final-year student of the Department of Mass Communication UNILAG, who is also a scholar, emphasised the need to be a well rounded and ‘complete’ personality.

He said a good ambassador of islam must be spiritually and academically sound.

In his speech, Mansur enumerated passion, determination and God-factor as key things that could help participants excel in their academic and life generally.

“Those who can liberate islam, are those who are doing well in their dunya. You must exhibit and demonstrate excellence,” Mansur added.

Also speaking at the event, Barister Anjorin A/Ganiyy, a graduate of the university who also doubles as the former Amir of Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), UNILAG branch urged participants to be determined to achieve success, be prayerful and have an urge to be the best.

The chairman planning committee, Hassan Salaudeen, who is also a scholar said the programme was designed to gear the freshmen to pursue academic excellence as well as striking a balance spiritually.

A participant, a 100-level student of Radiography, Oladele Latefah, while expressing her gratitude to the organisers, added that the programme has geared her to do more academically, noting that her determination has been strengthened.

Another participant, Muhammad Yahya of Accounting Department, 100-level said the programme taught him to strengthened his Ibaadah.

“I have realised myself “ muhammed added.

Muhammed who expressed his gratitude to the organisers, suggested that the programme should have come in the first semester.
