Muslims in Rivers State and beyond have been advised to exercise patience and restraints following the pronouncement by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers that the State is 100 percent Christian.
President, Osun State Muslim Community, Alhaji Mustafa Olawuyi gave the advice while reacting to the Governor’s statement.
Alhaji Olawuyi who condemned demolition of a mosque in Port Harcourt assured muslims that the highest Islamic body in the country which is the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs under the Sultan of Sokoto will take up the matter within the ambits of the law.
He told muslims to steer clear of any counter action,be wary of unguarded statements and allow Islamic leaders to sort the issues out at the higher level .
The President of Osun Muslims took a swipe at the Media for its conspiracy of silence on Governor Wike’s action.
Reminding people that the hijrah of Prophet Muhammad is a lesson in patience to achieve heights.He called on muslims in the State to be part of this year’s 1441 hijrah celebration in conjunction with the State Government,holding this Saturday at Osogbo City Stadium.
A legal practitioner and stalwart of OSMC,Qosim Odedeji compared former Zamfara Governor Anmed Sani to that of Nyesom Wike .
He noted that Yerima’s action was within the ambits of the law as he presented a bill before Zamfara parliament seeking the establishment of a shariah court.
Besides, Mallam Odedeji added that the people of Zamfara clamoured for shariah as an instrument of justice and fairness.
He lent his voice to the call on appropriate quarters to call Governor Wike to order with an appeal to muslims to exercise restraints in reacting to what he called Wike’s act of provocation.
