Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation at its 2nd edition of Entrepreneurship Development Project 2016 rewarded Young Nigerians with outstanding business ideas.

The 2nd Edition of Entrepreneurship Development Project (AKA Business Plan Competition) was held on 11th August, 2016 at Westwood Hotel, 22, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos with crème-de-la-crème in business and Financial institutions.

Being the 2nd edition in a row, EDP is tailored towards empowering young Nigerians with business ideas either at conceptual level known as “Idea track” or transitional stage known as “Business Growth”.

The best applicants were carefully selected by a team of Business Development experts after rigorous screening.

This year’s edition like that of last year, witnessed eight (8) people emerging winners from the two (2) categories of Business Growth and Idea track in a keenly contested Competition, which saw them smiling home with about eight million naira (N8Million).

Chairman of The occasion Ambassador Adamu Babangida Ibrahim (fcna) and Director General and Chief Executive Officer (DG/CEO), Jaiz Foundation while given his Welcome address said, “I highly commend the board and management team of Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation for encouraging the Nigerian youths to be creators and not job seekers.”

He went further to affirm that “The practical steps taken by the Foundation is a testimony of its commitment and passion to empower Nigerian youths through the window of its entrepreneurship development project code-named Business Plan Competition”.

The Executive Director in his Executive Summary at the Presentation of Award/Prize-given Ceremony he appreciated the supports enjoyed from the duo of Jaiz Foundation and Al-Barakah Microfinance Bank for their supports and advice the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the fund to transform their businesses to lofty heights.

The Project Consultant, Dr Luqman AbdurRaheem in his speech stated that over one hundred and twenty eight participants applied for the exercise, but were pruned down during the screening exercise.

He went further to encourage the winners to imbibe culture of prudency and financial discipline as those are the ethics of a successful entrepreneur.

The initiative has started yielding positive results as two (2) beneficiaries of the 1st edition of EDP that was held last year were present to share their success story.
