The successful woman is supplicated for, praised by her husband, loved by her neighbours and respected by her friends.

The successful woman is ever grateful to Allah her Lord and creator, appreciative of her husband’s many kindness and generosity and never for once forgetful of his favours and gifts.

She is not like Al-Barmakiyyah, the slave woman who was bought and sold. Then, she was bought by al-Mu’tamid ibn ‘Abbad, the king of Morocco. He freed her and made her a queen. When she saw the slave girls playing with mud, she became nostalgic and wanted to play with mud like them. The king ordered that a huge amount of perfume be prepared for her, in the form of mud, so that she could play with it. But when she got angry with him she said to him: “I have never seen anything good from you!” He would simply smile and say to her: “Not even the day of the mud?” Then she would get embarrassed…

It is the nature of women, except a few, to forget whatever favours have been done to them when a husband forgets or falls short in his treatment of them.
It says in the hadith: “O’ Woman, give in charity, for I have seen that you form the majority of the inhabitants of Hell.” They said: “why, O’ Messenger of Allah?” He (Blessings and Peace be upon him) said: ” you are quick to curse, you slander a great deal and you are ungrateful to a kind companion”.

My dear brethren, let us ensure we appreciate our husbands, let us be ever thankful for their every efforts upon us and the children and we should not forget to teach the children gratefulness and kindness whenever they’re given gifts. May Allah save us all from the Hell fire.
