Workers in Osun resumed duty on Wednesday after observing Monday and Tuesday Eid-el-Kabir public holiday declared by the Federal Government.
It was reported that commercial banks in Osogbo that were closed for the holiday opened for business as customers were seen going into the banks for transactions.
Civil servants working at the state secretariat in Abere, Osogbo, were also back at their duty post, as many were already behind their desks carrying out the day’s work.
The same scenario also played out at Olorunda and Osogbo Local Government secretariats, both in Osogbo, where council workers were seen exchanging greetings with colleagues and others cleaning their offices.
Workers working with federal establishments in Osogbo too were back at their stations as a lot of them were seen carrying out their duties.
Mr Mobolaji Lawal, a federal worker, said though he travelled to Ogun, where his family resided, he returned to the state on Tuesday evening to resume work Wednesday morning.
Lawal said that as federal workers, extended public holidays gave them opportunity to travel and spend more time with their families.
“Apart from the festivities and celebration stuff, the break afforded me the opportunity to spend more time with my children.
“As you know, they are on holiday, and for the fact that I only travel twice a month to see my family because of my job, I was happy spending extended days with them,” he said.
A civil servant working at the state secretariat, Mrs Abibat Adeniyi, said the Eid-el-kabir was a celebration she always looked forward to every year because she had the opportunity to see her in-laws who came back home for the celebration.
“I just wish the holiday could last longer, but we all know we have to return to work to make our money and daily living,” Adeniyi said.
