Your victory is another trial from God, CIO tells Buhari, Sanwoolu

The Ulamau Forum of the Conference of Islamic Organisation has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and Babajide Sanwoolu over their victorious emergence.

This was contained in a press statement signed by Sheikh Tirimiddhi Muhammad Jamiu, Secretary of the Ulamau Forum of CIO.

Among the prominent scholars of the forum are Sheikh AbdulRahman Ahmad, Sheikh Dhikrullahi Shafii, Sheikh AbdulRahman Adangba and Sheikh AbdulMajeed Ayinla, Sheikh Imran Eleha and Sheikh Isiaq Tejidini.

The organisation, which consists of prominent Islamic scholars and imams, also urged losers in the election to believe that only God can make anyone victorious.

The statement read: “We congratulate PMB and his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo;  and Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu  together with Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat.

They should see this as another opportunity to consolidate their efforts in the fight against corruption.

“For Sanwoolu and Hamzat, they should see their victory as a call to service and not a right. It is privilege that must be well utilised.

“Indeed, this is another trial from Allah. They shall give account both on earth and the hereafter.

” Nigerians have put a lot of responsibilities on them – winners. They should not afford to fail or make people regret vvotingtheir party. They must work tirelessly as a team to deliver and make sure people feel the effects of government and dividends of democracy. Also, they must reciprocate the gesture with more life-touching projects.”

The respected Islamic organisation advised losers to eschew politics of bitterness.

The statement added: “While we encourage all winners to be magnanimous in victory, those who lost should have a large heart and forget litigation.

“It is painful that in some cases, two Muslims are taking one another to court over election. They forgot totally that only Allah enthrones and dethrones. Atiku and other losers should kindly accept defeat in good faith and enjoin peace for the benefit of all.

“They should shun comments and utterances capable of leading to violence, riot or hate. The blood of any Nigeria is not worth their emergence. Politics should not be a reason to cause crisis or hatred among kinsmen or faithful of the same, and even different religion.”
