The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) Lagos State Area Unit, in collaboration with the Muslim Awareness International (MAI) organised a special prayer session and awareness campaign tagged: “Prayer & Solidarity for Peace in Palestine,” over the ongoing Israeli-Hamas war in Gaza.

MSSN Lagos Amir, Kamoldeen Abiona, addressing the gathering at the Solidarity for Palestine

We at MSSNLagos express our deep concern and condemnation of the escalating violence and indiscriminate attacks by Israel on hospitals, women and children in Gaza. We join the global community in calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities and renewed efforts towards a just and lasting peace in the region.

The current situation in Palestine demands urgent attention and action. The indiscriminate attacks on Gaza have resulted in a dire humanitarian crisis, with thousands of innocent civilians, including women and children, losing their lives or suffering severe injuries. The destruction of crucial civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and residential buildings, further exacerbates the already dire living conditions for Palestinians.

It is imperative that all parties involved (the Israelites and the Americans) recognise the right to life, safety, and security for all civilians, regardless of their nationality or ethnicity. We strongly condemn any form of violence targeting innocent civilians, including rocket attacks or any actions that disproportionately harm Palestinians.

Address the Cause

We call on the international community to actively facilitate and support an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Palestine, restoring calm and security in the region. Additionally, it is essential to address the root causes of the conflict, including the ongoing occupation, illegal settlements, forced evictions, and the dispossession of Palestinian land, which perpetuate friction and instability.

Resolving the Crises

Resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict requires a comprehensive and inclusive approach that respects international law, human rights, and the right to self-determination for both Israelis and Palestinians. We strongly urge all relevant parties to engage in sincere dialogue and negotiations to find a just and peaceful resolution to this longstanding conflict.

At MSSN Lagos, we stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine during this challenging period. We reaffirm our commitment to promoting peace, justice, and equality in the region, and we will continue to support efforts that contribute to lasting peace and dignity for all.
